a few of you asked me about the various recipes I used for the BBQ sticks and corn when at the last meet. So, I figure one of the things I like to do is share the knowledge I have.
For the Filipino BBQ sticks, here is how they are typically made (I cheated a bit for time reasons)
Pork Butt or Pork Carnitas -5 to 15lbs, depending on how many…[Read more]

I know you want to put our collected media together to show what a great event this was – is there a way to put pictures and videos on this site or would you like them emailed to someone directly?

Great time this weekend guys! Thanks to everyone who came out and participated. It was nice meeting everyone. The stories around the campfire were great, as was the singing and guitar playing.
By far, though, my favorite part of the day was the Skeet shooting against Hatch. That guy can sling a shotgun, for sure!

    • Thanks J for the head swelling words and all the belly swelling grub you made for us! Ya, and I have a big nasty bruise on my bicep from slinging those shotguns and not getting them set correctly in the shoulder… ache…
And Jack looked like he was in a candy store popping those clays!!!
      An Awesome Time Indeed!

  • It was great to spend time with everyone at the event this weekend. Really enjoyed the shoot, and the good will of everyone. Looking forward to the next one!

    • Tanglewood was a cool place, I wish I could’ve stayed later but my little man was about done.

      • Justin, was great that you and the fam were able to come out for the time you did. I thought that your little guy was VERY patient with the goings on.

        • Thank you, Sir! After seeing everyone shoot Saturday, everything he picked up Sunday was a gun and he knew to stick it to his shoulder. I consider that a good step towards passing on the tradition.

Also, while Jay is going to be making some good campfire chow for Saturday evening, everyone is on their own for the remainder of meals. If time permits, I may throw some briskets or something on the smoker but please be prepared to have your own food/beverages

For the first meet-n-shoot, I figured I should actually post the menu for Saturday nights dinner.
Since the request was made to make the meal something filling, but not heavy, and also something that required no utensils or plates, I will be cooking and serving
Sausage Wraps (and hot dogs for kids)
    Filipino BBQ sticks
    Corn on the cob.…[Read more]

I thought we might have received an itinerary, but don’t see it or can’t find it. Just wanted to verify that for those of us camping. We need to bring our own meals, water, beer, etc… except for Sat night where Sir Stretton will be whipping up something awesome.
What other things should folks be thinking about?
    Standard camping supplies,…[Read more]

I’d anyone that is going traveling near Cedar Creek/At hand area? I would be interested in car pooling if so.
I don’t yet own anything bigger than a pellet shooter, but an hoping to change that before too long.

Hi guys, I thought “Grand Daddy’s Gun Club” was a really neat idea when Jack started talking about it. As it turns out, the first shoot isn’t too far from me. My son isn’t old enough to shoot but I’d like to swing by for the camp fire stories and such. I’ll shoot Brad an email. I look forward to meeting some like minded people!

    • I got your email Justin, you are locked in and should have an event email in your box. Look forward to seeing you at the shoot.

    GRANDDADDY’S GUN CLUB

We are nearing the end of the last of the generations who grew up hunting squirrels in the woods with their fathers and where seeing an old ford truck, parked at the store with a shotgun and .22 on a gun-rack in the rear window was not an instant call to 911. We live in a time where the media thrives on shocking the public…[Read more]

    • Awesome David thanks for getting this moving! Looking forward to meeting a bunch of you guys next month.

    • As your humble camp cook, if anyone that signs up to attend has any food allergies, let me know and I will work around it. The dinner meal will be simple and hearty, hearkening back to the times when we sat around campfires, telling stories and filling our stomach with good food, shared by good people.

    • Email sent to reserve a spot. It’ll be just me.

    • Would so love to attend. Father having heart surgery that weekend, or I’d be bringing him and a few of his grand-kids out. Maybe next year

  • Aaron,

I’m not sure if you’ve gotten any response yet, but I can give you some advice. If you have pistols and a shotgun, you can realistically hunt here in central/north texas, as long as you do it close range. With your shotguns, depending on the gauge, you can run rifled slugs through it and get up to 100 to 150 yds off of that. That will let…[Read more]
