Here is a pic of my 9 year old and his first hog he killed a few weeks ago. He shot it with a Contender Carbine we built for him using my dad’s Thompson Contender and barrel in 7-30 Waters. We added a synthetic forearm and 3 position stock.
7 mag built by Mark Raines of Masters of Gun and Rod in tally. This load only runs about 2800 fps so it is a nice, light, low pressure, non barrel burning round. Lighter than a 7mm-08 but plenty for anything around here. I still intend on doing an other ladder test to come up with a near max load to stretch the range on out to a mile.
